Equivariant aspects of Yang-Mills Floer theory (Q1599627)

The author studies the \(u\)-map in Floer cohomology of SO(3) bundles over a closed oriented 3-manifold \(Y\) such that either \(Y\) is an integral homology sphere or the bundle restricted to some surface in \(Y\) is nontrivial. He shows that \(u^2- 64\) is nilpotent in the reduced Floer cohomology of \(Y\) in the first case and in the full group in the second. Using this, he proves mod \(-4\) periodicity of the Floer cohomology and also that Donaldson invariants of a simply connected 4-manifold \(X\) with \(b^+_2(X) > 2\) and odd have finite type. He also constructs a new additive homology cobordism invariant for homology 3-spheres that is monotone with respect to definite cobordisms.
