Let \(\pi\) be a translation plane of order \(q^2\) which is at most two-dimensional over its kernel. If \(\pi\) admits more than \(q + 1\) axes (or more than \(q + 1\) coaxes) of homologies of odd order \(m \neq 1\), then the authors show that \(\pi\) must be one of a short list of possibilities. The main idea of the analysis is to apply certain known classification results on subgroups of \(\Gamma L (4,q)\): one being a listing of the possible primitive subgroups, and the other being a description of the possible group actions by groups whose orders are prime to the characteristic of the vector space underlying the translation plane. It should be noted that the even order analogue of this result was proven by the authors in [\textit{N. L. Johnson} and \textit{R. Pomareda}, J. Geom. 49, No. 1-2, 117-149 (1994; Zbl 0798.51006)].
