Finite groups acting on homology 3-spheres: On a result of M. Reni (Q1601799)

The author gives a list including all finite groups \(G\) which admit smooth orientation preserving actions on homology 3-spheres (possibly whith fixed points). \textit{M. Reni} [On finite groups acting on homology 3-spheres, J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 63, 226-246 (2001)] gave a list of finite groups \(G\) which may admit arbitrary actions on homology 3-spheres. But for the case that \(G\) has a subgroup of small index of type SL\((2,p)\), the main result in Reni's paper and its proof are incomplete. The author gives a corrected and strengthened version for this case.
