rhe proposed controller contains two terms. The first one contains a self-tuning fuzzy feedback linearization scheme, which is employed to approximate the nonlinear uncertain missile systems. Based on this self-tuning fuzzy feedback linearization system, an adaptive feedback control scheme is obtained. The other term contains an optimal robust algorithm, which is employed to attenuate the worst case effect of both the residue in the adaptive fuzzy approximation procedure as well as the exogenous disturbance in the tracking error within a desired level. The proposed design method attempts to combine an optimal attenuation technique and adaptive fuzzy algorithm to guarantee a robust tracking performance for uncertain missile control systems. In this proposed robust tracking control, the adaptive fuzzy approximation technique plays the role of rough tuning and the optimal disturbance attenuation technique plays the role of fine tuning. Unlike the conventional adaptive control of nonlinear systems, the uncertain missile dynamics need not be of linear parametrized structure in this approach. Therefore, the proposed design method is more suitable for robust tracking performance control design of missile systems that involve parametric uncertainties and external disturbances.
