The paper deals with the proximal point method for finding zeroes of monotone operators in a Hilbert space. It is shown that the hybrid steps on the hybrid proximal point methods, allowing for constant relative errors, are necessary in order to ensure the boundedness of the iterates, even in the optimization case. It is proved that such conditions do not imply that the sequence of errors should become summable a posteriori.
