A review on algebras of canonical commutation relations (CCR) and their deformations, with applications to thermal quantum field theory and gravity, is given. The simplest CCR algebra consists of operators \(a\), \(a^\dag\) with the operation of coproduct defined as \(\Delta a = a\otimes I + I\otimes a\). The deformation of this algebra is determined by a real parameter \(q\) and differs in that the operation of coproduct changes into \(\Delta_q a = a\otimes q^{1/2} + q^{-1/2}\otimes a\). It is demonstrated that thermal quantum fields may be presented by deformed CCR algebras of this type (but more complicated). The application of this formalism to the description of thermal effects in curved space-times with event horizons is discussed, the Schwarzschild and Rindler space-times being taken as examples. It is concluded that only preliminary results are obtained in this area, but they give a promising indication that \(q\)-deformed algebras provide a natural setting for treating the quantization of a field in a curved background.
