Let \((A_0,A_1)\) and \((B_0,B_1)\) be two interpolation couples and let \(T: (A_0, A_1)\to (B_0, B_1)\) be a \(K\)-quasilinear operator. The boundedness of the operator from \(A_0\) to \(B_0\) implies \(K(t, Ta;B_0,B_1)\leq M_0\|a\|_{A_0}\) and the boundedness of the operator from \(A_1\) to \(B_1\) implies \(K(t,Ta; B_1,B_0)\leq M_1\|a\|_{A_1}\), \(a\in A_0\cap A_1\). The perturbations of these two inequalities in the form \[ K(\gamma t,Ta; B_0, B_1)\leq M_0\|a\|_{A_0}+ \varepsilon_0 K(t,Ta; B_0, B_1) \] and \[ K(\gamma t,Ta, B_1, B_0)\leq M_1\|a\|_{A_1}+ \varepsilon_1 K(t,Ta; B_1,B_0) \] have been considered in this paper. It is proved that similar to the classical case for \(\gamma> 1\) and \(0\leq\varepsilon_j\leq 1\) one gets for all \(0<\theta< 1\) and for all \(0< q\leq\infty\), \[ \|Ta\|_{(B_0,B_1)_{\theta,q}}\leq C(M_0, M_1,\theta,q)\|a\|_{(A_0,A_1)_{\theta, q}}. \] If \(B_0= L^1(Q)\), \(B_1= L^\infty(Q)\), \(\gamma= 2\) and \(\varepsilon_j= 1\), where \(Q\) is a cube in \(\mathbb{R}^n\), then a theorem of \textit{C. Bennett}, \textit{R. A. DeVore} and \textit{R. Sharpley} [Ann. Math. 113, 601-611 (1981; Zbl 0465.42015)] is obtained. It is proved that if \(\varepsilon_j> 1\) then one continues to get an interpolation theorem, but the interpolation holds for \[ (\log^+\varepsilon_0)/(\log\gamma)< \theta< 1-(\log^+\varepsilon_1)/(\log\gamma). \] The results proved in the paper allow for the identification \(K\)-functionals upto multiplicative equivalence which opens the door to applications of the theory to most interpolation couples, leading to strong interpolation theorems for some well known spaces.
