    The authors deal with the following Cauchy problem in \(\mathbb{R}^N\): \[ u_{tt}(t,x)- \Delta_xu(t,x)+ u_t(t,x)=\bigl|u(t,x)\bigr |^{p-1} u(t,x),\tag{1} \] \[ u(0,x)=u_0(x),\;u_t(0,x)= u_1(x),\;x\in\mathbb{R}^N. \tag{2} \] The authors present new critical exponents \(1+{2m\over N}\) with \(m\in [1,2]\) to the problem (1)--(2) with \((u_0,u_1)\in H^1(\mathbb{R}^N)\cap L^m(\mathbb{R}^N)\times(L^2(\mathbb{R}^N)\cap L^m(\mathbb{R}^N))\); that is, the small data global existence property can be derived to (1)--(2) with \(1+{2m\over N}<p<+ \infty\) \((N=1,2)\). Furthermore, the small data global nonexistence of solutions is discussed in the case when \(1<p<1+ {2m\over N}\), \(N\geq 1\).
