The author describes a one-parameter family of nonstandard \(SU(n+1)\)-covariant Poisson structures on the projective space \({\mathbb C}P^n\) that represent the classical counterpart of a family of quantum groups \(C({\mathbb C}P_{q,c}^n)\) that were studied by Dijkhuizen and Noumi. This paper appears in the framework of the study of the relationship between algebraic structures of quantum groups and geometric properties of their corresponding Poisson Lie groups. The Poisson structures are defined in the following way: The author starts with the standard multiplicative Poisson structure on \(SU(n)\) induced by the standard classical \(r\)-matrix. A one parameter family of elements in \(SU(n)\) is used to ``twist'' this Poisson structure and to obtain a family of affine Poisson structures on \(SU(n)\). The main result is that the subgroup \(U(n-1)\) of \(SU(n)\) is coisotropic with respect to these affine Poisson structures, and so they induce a one parameter family of Poisson structures on \({\mathbb C}P^{n-1}=SU(n)/U(n-1)\). The paper also shows that the standard Poisson sphere \(S^{2n-1}\) is embedded in each of these \({\mathbb C}P^n\) as a Poisson submanifold. Also, the Lagrangian subalgebra associated with the newly constructed Poisson structures is described explicitly. In the end, the author gives a proof of the fact that \(SU(n)\)-invariant contravariant alternating 2-tensors on \(S^{2n-1}\) with \(n\neq 3\), and also on \({\mathbb C}P^n\) are unique up to a constant factor.
