A model of the effect of anti-competitor toxins on plasmid-bearing, plasmid-free competition (Q1607724)

The authors study a system of ordinary differential equations, of possible interest in biotechnology, which models competition in the chemostat between plasmid-bearing and plasmid-free organisms where plasmid-bearing organism can produce a toxin against the plasmid-free organism at some cost to its reproductive abilities. They give a description of the outcomes in terms of the relevant parameters of the system in hyperbolic cases.
