The paper considers a quasilinear multidimensional PDE, \[ u_t - P(\nabla)u + \nabla\cdot {\mathbf g}(u)= f(t,{\mathbf x}), \] where \(P(\nabla)\) is a polynomial differential operator of the third order with constant coefficients, \({\mathbf x}\) is a vectorial variable with two components or more, and \(u({\mathbf r},t)\) is a real scalar function. This equation is a generalization of well-known one-dimensional third-order equations, such as the Korteweg-de Vries and Zakharov-Kuznetsov equations. The objective of the paper is to prove nonlocal solvability (existence of a solution) of a mixed problem, which combines the equation with an initial condition for the function \(u\) and a set of (generally inhomogeneous) linear boundary conditions for \(u\). The proof is done first for a linear counterpart of the equation, and then for the full nonlinear one. In the process of the proof, the conservation of momentum (a dynamical invariant quadratic in \(u\)) in the homogeneous version of the equation plays an important role; the proof uses a technique of functional estimates.
