From author's summary: We propose a simplified version of continuum equations of fluid mechanics for analyzing a hypersonic rarefied flow in viscous shock layer around a blunt body. The asymptotic equations are valid for \({M}^{-2}_{\infty}(\gamma-1)^{-1}\rightarrow 0\), \(\varepsilon\rightarrow 0\), and \(\text{Re}\rightarrow 0\), where Re is Reynolds number, \({M}_\infty\) is Mach number, and \(\varepsilon=(\gamma-1)/2\gamma\) (\(\gamma\) is the ratio of specific heats). Using similarity variables, we give an analytical solution in the case of viscosity varying with the temperature linearly or according to a power law.
