From authors' summary: We consider a class of numerical algorithms for solving gas dynamic equations. The methods are based on discrete approximations of kinetic equations; their averaging yields desired finite difference schemes for macroscopic quantities. The derivation of finite difference systems of equations and their differential counterparts is discussed, and the applicability of these equations to viscous gas flows is analyzed.
