The author considers the following two variational problems: \[ \begin{cases}\text{Find}\;u\in H_{\Gamma_d}^1(\Omega)\\ \int_{\Omega} A\nabla u\cdot\nabla\varphi +\int_{\Omega} u {\mathbf v}\cdot\nabla\varphi +\int_{\Omega}bu\varphi +\int_{\Gamma_f}\lambda u\varphi\, d\sigma\\ \;\;\;\;= \langle L,\varphi\rangle_{\left((H_{\Gamma_d}^1(\Omega))',H_{\Gamma_d}^1(\Omega)\right)} \quad\forall \varphi\in H_{\Gamma_d}^1(\Omega)\end{cases}\tag{1} \] and \[ \begin{cases}\text{Find}\;v\in H_{\Gamma_d}^1(\Omega)\\ \int_{\Omega} A^T\nabla v\cdot\nabla\varphi +\int_{\Omega} \varphi{\mathbf v}\cdot\nabla v +\int_{\Omega}bv\varphi +\int_{\Gamma_f}\lambda v\varphi\, d\sigma\\ \;\;\;\;= \langle L,\varphi\rangle_{\left((H_{\Gamma_d}^1(\Omega))',H_{\Gamma_d}^1(\Omega)\right)} \quad\forall \varphi\in H_{\Gamma_d}^1(\Omega).\end{cases}\tag{2} \] where \(\Omega\subseteq\mathbb{R}^N\) is a bounded domain with a Lipschitz continuous boundary \(\Gamma=\Gamma_d\cup\Gamma_f\) with \(\sigma(\Gamma_d\cap\Gamma_f)=0\), \(A\colon\Omega\rightarrow M_N(\mathbb{R})\) is a matrix valued essentially bounded measurable function, \(b\in L^{\frac{N_*}{2}}(\Omega)\), \(\lambda\in L^{N_*-1}(\partial\Omega)\) and \({\mathbf v}\in (L^{N^*(\Omega)})^N\) (with \(N_*=N\) when \(N\geq 3\) and \(N_*\in(2,+\infty)\) when \(N=2\)). Existence and uniqueness results for the above problems are shown. To obtain the estimates of the solutions of (1) and (2), the Leray-Schauder topological degree is used. The author assumes no coercivity conditions on the convection term, extending the results of [\textit{O. Guibe, M. Ben Cheikh}, C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. I Math. 329, No. 11, 967--972 (1999; Zbl 0939.35074)] and [\textit{L. Boccardo}, Pitman Res. Notes Math. Ser. 350, Longman, Harlow, 43--57 (1996; Zbl 0889.35034)]. For more regular case some regularity results are also proved.
