A model based on the Biot theory is used for simulating coupled hydrodynamic behavior in saturated-unsaturated porous media taking into account the inertial coupling effect between solid-fluid phases of the media. The model is applied to the study of stationary instability and dispersivity of one-dimensional wave propagation in the media. The following results are obtained: (1) the important factors are viscous and inertial couplings between solid and fluid phases, (2) the compressibility of the mixture composed of solid grains and pore-fluid determine the degree of saturation and viscoplastic rate-dependent constitutive behavior of the solid selection under high strain rate. The results provide some bases for overcoming the difficulties in numerical modelling of wave propagation in media subjected to strong shock loading.
