The article extends results about the integrated density of states to a more general geometric setting. Let \(X\) be the Riemannian universal covering of a compact manifold \(M = X/\Gamma\) where \(\Gamma\) is an infinite group of deck transformations. The authors consider an ergodic family of random Schrödinger operators \(\{H^\omega = \Delta + V^\omega\}_{\omega}\) on \(X\) where the potential \(V^\omega\) satisfies \(\| \nabla^k V^\omega\| _{\infty}\leq C_{0}\) for all \(\omega \in \Omega\) and \(k\leq {1\over 2}\text{dim}(X) + 2\). For a regular domain let \(H_{D}^\omega\) be the operator restricted with Dirichlet boundary conditions to \(D\). Then one defines the normalised eigenvalue counting function \[ N_{D}^\omega(\lambda) = {\sharp\{j\,\mid \, \lambda_{j}(H_{D}^\omega) <\lambda\} \over | D| } \] and considers the infinite volume limit. For amenable groups \(\Gamma\) an admissible sequence of domains is given such that Lindenstrauss' pointwise ergodic theorem holds which is applied to heat kernels. Estimates for heat kernels and their differences are given and later on used to show the convergence of the Laplace transforms of \(N_{D_{n}}^\omega\) at all continuity points to a nonrandom function which gives the existence of a nonrandom limit for the sequence \(N_{D_{n}}^\omega\).
