As the authors write, ``Explicit formulae for rational Lusternik-Schnirelmann category are rare''. In a previous paper [ibid. 65, No.~1, 45-56 (1990; Zbl 0701.55012)], \textit{B. Jessup} has obtained formulae for the category of some homogeneous spaces. Here they extend the applicability of these formulae for \(G/H\) when rank \(G=5\) and \(H\) is a 4-torus or \((SU_2)^4\). The proof is a pretty application of ideal class groups in algebraic topology. The paper focuses on the following very interesting conjecture. Suppose \(H^*(X,\mathbb{Q}) =\mathbb{Q}[x_1,\dots,x_{r-1}]/(f_1,\dots,f_r)\), that \((f_1,\dots,f_{j-1},f_{j+1},\dots,f_r)\) is a regular sequence, that \(f_j\) is a zero divisor in \(\mathbb{Q}[x_1,\dots,x_{r-1}]/(f_1,\dots,f_{j-1})\) and that the \(x_i\) have the same even degree. Denote by \(D_i\) the degree of \(f_i\) as a polynomial, then the authors conjecture that \(\text{cat}_0(X)=2-r+\sum_{i\neq j}D_i.\)
