The authors consider a two-parameter unfolding of an equilibrium with a double eigenvalue zero. The underlying ODE is assumed to be \(\mathbb{Z}_2\)-symmetric. The main result states that under certain nondegeneracy conditions there exist two Hopf curves (in parameter space) emanating from the critical value. The analysis is based on an allocated extended system which also directly can be used for numerical computations.
