The paper concerns Painlevé integrability of relativistic systems of ODE. Of the systems discussed, two are proved to pass the Ablowitz-Ramani-Segur test: a scalar-fluid FRW model due to \textit{E. J. Copeland} et al. [Phys. Rev. D 57, 4686-4690 (1998)] and the Billyard-Coley-van der Hoogen system [\textit{A. P. Billyard, A. A. Coley} and \textit{R. J. van den Hoogen}, Phys. Rev. D 58, 123501 (1998)]. Unlike integrability, the Painlevé property is sensitive to the choice of coordinates. A discussion of this peculiarity closes the paper. Part IV, see ibid. 6, 282-290 (2000; Zbl 1009.83075), Parts III and V, J. Nonlinear Math. Phys. 8, 139-156 (2001; Zbl 0992.34028) and 8, 475-490 (2001; Zbl 1017.34035).
