On Herstein's Lie map conjectures. III (Q1614627)

The paper under review is the third in a series by the same authors [Part I, Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 353, No. 10, 4235-4260 (2001; see the review Zbl 1019.16019 above), Part II, J. Algebra 238, No. 1, 239-264 (2001; see the preceding review Zbl 1019.16020)]. Here the authors resolve in general a problem posed by \textit{I. N. Herstein} [Bull. Am. Math. Soc. 67, 517-531 (1961; Zbl 0107.02704)]. Note that in the previous two papers they managed to resolve Herstein's problem by imposing some restrictions on the dimensions of the algebras under consideration; here they remove such restrictions.
