    The paper is concerned with global complex-valued solutions of the initial-boundary value problem \[ {\partial u\over\partial t}-(\lambda+i \alpha)\Delta_p +(\kappa+i \beta)|u|^{q-2} u-\gamma u=0\text{ (on } \Omega\times \mathbb{R}_+), \] \[ u=0\text{ (on }\partial \Omega\times \mathbb{R}_+),\;u(x,0) =u_0(x)\;(x\in\Omega), \] where \(\lambda\), \(\kappa\in\mathbb{R}_+\) and \(\alpha, \beta, \gamma\) are constants, \(\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^N\) is a bounded domain, \(\Delta_p u= \text{div} (|\nabla u|^{p-2} \nabla u)\) and \(2\leq p\), \(q< \infty\). The particular case \(p=2\) was extensively studied, however, the common methods fail in the general case \(p>2\). The authors apply the complex space version of the monotonicity method by employing the subdifferential of lower semicontinuous convex functions \(\varphi\) and \(\psi\) in the complex Hilbert space \(L^2(\Omega)\). In more detail, \[ \varphi(u)= \frac 1p\|\nabla u\|^p_{L^p}, \quad\psi(u) =\frac 1q\|u\|^q_{L^q} \] which leads to the abstract differenital equation \[ {du\over dt}+ (\lambda+ i\alpha)\partial \varphi(u)+ (\kappa+ i\beta) \partial\psi (u)-\gamma u=0\;(t>0). \] Then the perturbation theory is applied by assuming that the unperturbed operator \((\lambda+i \alpha)\partial\varphi\) is accretive in \(L^2(\Omega)\). Result: global existence with \(u_0\in W_0^{1,p} (\Omega) \cap L^q(\Omega)\) and uniqueness with \(u_0\in D(\Delta_p)\cap L^{2(q-1)} (\Omega)\) for the strong solutions under certain additional restrictions on the coefficients, global existence of weak solutions with \(u_0\in L^2(\Omega)\) without such restrictions.
