It is well known that for a finite abelian group \(G\), all Yetter-Drinfeld modules \(V\) over \(G\) must be of diagonal type. However this is not the case in the quasi-Hopf (or, dually Majid) algebra setting due to the existence of \(3\)-cocycles \(\Phi\) over \(G\). If such \(\Phi\) is good enough to make all \(V\in {^{G}_{G}\mathcal{YD}^{\Phi}}\) to be of diagonal type, then we call \(\Phi\) abelian. In this paper, the authors determine when \(\Phi\) is abelian or not. The main results of this paper can be described as follows: 1) For nonabelian \(\Phi\), the authors classified all finite-dimensional Nichols algebras \(B(V)\) where \(V\) is simple; 2) If \(G\) has odd order, then all finite-dimensional Nichols algebras \(B(V)\) can be determined where \(V\) is not necessary simple.
