In the paper under review, the quantum states of the $C^*$-algebra of canonical commutation relations in infinitely many variables and the semiclassical limits of these states are investigated. This limit process leads to specific properties of the cylindrical Wigner measures regarded as the classical counterpart of the quantum states. Applications of this approach to quantum field theory and many-body systems are thoroughly discussed.
