Let \(S\) be a closed orientable surface of genus \(g\), \(n\) be an integer such that \(4 \leq 2g+n\), \(\underline{k} = (k_1, \ldots, k_n)\) be an \(n\)-tuple of positive integers, and \((S, \underline{k})\) be the surface \(S\) with \(n\) banded points colored by \(\underline{k}\). Let \(\mathrm{Mod}(S,n)\) be the group of diffeomorphisms of \(S\) fixing \(n\) banded points up to isotopy. For an even integer \(p \geq \max \{ 6, \max \{ k_1, \ldots, k_n \} +4 \}\), we write \(\rho_p : \mathrm{Mod} (S,n) \to \mathrm{PAut}(V_p(S, \underline{k}))\) for the quantum representation of \(\mathrm{Mod}(S,n)\) arising from Witten-Reshetikhin-Turaev \(\mathrm{SU}(2)\)-TQFT. In the paper under review, it is proved that, if \(n \geq 1\) and at least one of \(\{k_1, \ldots, k_n \}\) is \(1\), then \(\rho_p\) is irreducible for all \(p\). This result follows from the stronger fact shown in this paper: The restriction of \(\rho_p\) to the point-pushing subgroup of the point colored by \(1\) is irreducible.
