The qualitative properties of certain spatial disease propagation models are investigated. The paper can be considered as a generalization of the work [\textit{I. Faragó} and \textit{R. Horváth}, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 293, 45--54 (2016; Zbl 1323.92203)]. In these models the members of the population do not move and the infection is localized in the sense that only the members in a certain neighbourhood of the infective member can be infected. The considered qualitative properties are: the nonnegativity and the monotonicity of the density functions and the preservation of the amount of the members. In [\textit{I. Faragó} and \textit{R. Horváth}, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 293, 45--54 (2016; Zbl 1323.92203)] sufficient conditions for these properties were obtained for the mesh size and the time step in certain finite difference solutions of the model. Furthermore, only the one-dimensional case was investigated. The present paper extends the above results in two directions: increasing the dimension and considering another disease propagation model introduced in [\textit{V. Capasso}, Mathematical structures of epidemic systems. 2nd corrected printing. Berlin: Springer (2008; Zbl 1141.92035)]. In this model the members are allowed to move according to some diffusion law. Similarly to the previous model, sufficient conditions are given that guarantee the validity of the qualitative properties. The results are verified on test problems.
