A continuum is a nonempty compact connected metric space. Let \(X\) be a continuum and \(K\) be a subcontinuum of \(X\). A subcontinuum \(M\) of \(K\) is a maximal limit continuum in \(K\) provided that there exists a sequence of subcontinua \(M_{n}\) of \(X\) converging to \(M\) such that for each sequence of subcontinua \(N_{n}\) of \(X\) converging to a subcontinuum \(N\) of \(K\) and satisfying that for each \(n\), \(M_{n} \subset N_{n}\), we have \(M=N\). Then \(X\) is semi-Kelley if for each subcontinuum \(K\) of \(X\) and for any two maximal limit subcontinua \(M\) and \(L\) in \(K\), either \(M \subset L\) or \(L \subset M\). A continuum \(X\) is Kelley provided that if \((x_{n})\) is a sequence in \(X\) converging to an element \(x \in X\) and \(K\) is a subcontinuum of \(X\) containing \(x\), then there exists a sequence of subcontinua \(K_{n}\) of \(X\) converging to \(K\) and with the property that for each \(n\), \(x_{n} \in K_{n}\). For the continuum \(X\), let \(C_{n} (X)\) (respectively, \(F_{n} (X)\)) denote the hyperspace of nonempty closed subsets with at most \(n\) components (respectively, points). In [Topol. Proc. 23(Spring), 69--99 (1998; Zbl 0943.54022)], \textit{J. J. Charatonik} and \textit{W. J. Charatonik} proved that if \(C_{1} (X)\) is semi-Kelley, then \(X\) is Kelley. In the paper under review, the authors prove that this result can be extended to the hyperspaces \(C_{n} (X)\) and \(F_{n} (X)\). They also show that the property of being semi-Kelley is a strong sequentially Whitney-reversible property.
