The authors discuss finite element de Rham complexes with higher continuity on subsimplexes. Some of these elements can be represented by Lagrange or Hermite type bases. Several different combinations of local exact sequences are given. The positions of existing elements with different initial purposes are found and new ones are provided. The new elements lead to smaller stiffness and mass matrices. In addition to this, the new geometric decomposition and topological structure lead to nodal type bases in some particular cases.
