The author constructs a class of efficient numerical integration methods for the long time integration of reversible Hamiltonian systems. The approach is based on a composition of one-step methods, yielding some symmetric general linear methods, and the primary goal is to obtain high order methods. A novel transformation brings the formulas into a structure where its starting and finishing methods are trivial. Since the construction process is designed to attain a certain order (the main emphasis is on sixth order methods), there is no need for an explicit error analysis. However, some numerical experiments are performed to compare the efficiency of the new methods with already existing schemes.
