In the paper under review, the authors provide an interesting characterization of the projective spaces among \(\mathbb{Q}\)-Fano varieties by one of the local positivity measures, which is the Seshadri constant. Let us recall that for a normal complex projective variety \(X\) and an \(\mathbb{Q}\)-ample Cartier divisor \(L\) on \(X\) the Seshadri constant at a smooth point \(p \in X\) is defined as \[ \varepsilon(X,L;p) = \text{sup} \{t \in \mathbb{R}_{>0} : \pi^{*}L -tE \text{ is ample}\}, \] where \(\pi: \tilde{X} \rightarrow X\) is the blowing up of \(X\) at \(p\) and \(E\) is the exceptional divisor. The first main result of this paper can be viewed as a generalization of an analogous result for smooth Fanos proved by \textit{T. Bauer} and \textit{T. Szemberg} [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 213, No. 11, 2134--2140 (2009; Zbl 1173.14008)]. Main Theorem. Let \(X\) be a complex \(\mathbb{Q}\)-Fano variety of dimension \(n\). If there is a smooth point such that \(\varepsilon(X,-K_{X};p) > n\), then \(X\cong \mathbb{P}^{n}_{\mathbb{C}}\). Moreover, the authors provide a complete classification of complex \(\mathbb{Q}\)-Fano varieties \(X\) of dimension \(n\) with \(\varepsilon(X,-K_{X},p)=n\) and they show that for any rational number \(c \in (0,n]\) there exists an \(n\)-dimensional \(\mathbb{Q}\)-Fano variety \(Y\) with a smooth point \(p \in Y\) such that \(\varepsilon(Y,-K_{Y};p) = c\).
