Utilizing Connes' definition of the dimension of a spectral triple, an invariant called spectral dimension of a homogeneous space of a compact quantum group (or equivalently, an ergodic \(C^\ast\)-dynamical system) was introduced by \textit{P. S. Chakraborty} and \textit{A. K. Pal} [Adv. Math. 301, 258--288 (2016; Zbl 1358.46069)]. In this paper, it is also conjectured, that spectral dimension of a homogeneous space of a (classical) compact Lie group is the same as its dimension as a differential manifold, and verified this conjecture for \(SU(2)\), \(SU_q(n)\) and \(S_q^{2n+1}\). These examples are homogeneous spaces of type \(A\) quantum groups. In this paper, this conjecture is verified for the quaternion sphere \(H^n=SP(2n)/SP(2n-2)\) (Theorem 3.10). Since it is a homogeneous space of type \(C\) quantum groups, this result strengthens the conjecture of Chakraborty and Pal. An ergodic \(C^\ast\)-dynamical system is a triple \((A,G .\tau)\), where \(A\) is a \(C^\ast\)-algebra, \(G\) a compact quantum group and \(\tau:A\to A\otimes C(g)\) is a \(\ast\)-homomorphism satisfying some additional conditions and \(\{a\in A:\tau(a)=a\otimes I\}=\mathbb{C}I\). \(A\) is called a homogeneous space of \(G\) (Def.2.1). By using a state \(\rho\) that obeys \((\rho\otimes id)\tau(a)=\rho(a)I. a\in A\), a spectral triple \((\mathcal{A}.\mathcal{H}_\rho,D)\), where \(\mathcal{A}\) is a dense \(\ast\)-subalgebra of \(A\) and \(\mathcal{H}_\rho\) is the Hilbert space appearing in the GNS representation of \(A\) associated with the state \(\rho\), is obtained. Spectral dimension of \((A,G,\tau)\) is defined by using these spectral triples (Details are explained in \S2). To prove Theorem 3.10, first a linear independent set of the highest weight vectors in the algebra \(\mathcal{O}(SP(2n)/SP(2n-2))\) is constructed (Proposition 3.1). An orthonormal basis of \(L^2(\rho)\) consisted by eigenfunctions of an equivariant Dirac operator \(D\) is also derived. Then, analyze these data precisely with the assistance of results of \textit{P. PodleÅ›} [Commun. Math. Phys. 170, No. 1, 1--20 (1995; Zbl 0853.46074)] and \textit{B. Saurabh} [Proc. Indian Acad. Sci., Math. Sci. 127, No. 1, 133--164 (2017; Zbl 1370.58002)], and ``Theorem 3.10; Spectral dimension of the quantum sphere \(SP(2n)/SP(2n-2)\) is 4n-1'' is proved.
