This article comprises two parts: in the first part, the author examines how category representations contribute to the representations of a given finite group, and in the second, he examines transporter categories in detail. Given a finite group \(G\) and a finite \(G\)-poset \(\mathcal P\), the transporter category over \(\mathcal P\) is the Grothendieck construction \(\mathcal P\rtimes G\). Given a commutative unital ring \(R\), the associated category algebra is \(R\mathcal P\rtimes G\). The transporter category algebras are skew group algebras, and so they are fully group-graded algebras. In the first part, the author investigates how the category representations contribute to the representations of \(G\). In the second part of the article, he establishes connections between the representations of \(\mathcal P\rtimes G\) and those of its transporter subcategories \(\mathcal Q\rtimes H\), where \(H\leq G\) and \(\mathcal Q\) is an \(H\)-subposet of \(\mathcal P\), focussing on the case when \(R\) is an (algebraically closed) field of characteristic dividing the order of \(G\). The ultimate aim of this work is to investigate representations of various local categories arisen in group representations and homotopy theory, and their applications. The main results include a generalised theory of vertices and sources, a Mackey formula and a Green correspondence; a comparison between the theories for \(kG\)- and \(k\mathcal P\rtimes G\)-modules; and a generalised Brauer correspondence.
