The author studies the slow entropy in some classes of smooth mixing flows on surfaces. He examines flows which can be represented as special flows over irrational rotations and under roof functions, which are \(C^2\) everywhere except in one singular point. In the case of Arnold flows where the singularity is logarithmic asymmetric, the author shows that, in the scale \(a_n (t)=n(\log n)^t\), the slow entropy equals 1 (the speed of orbit growth is \(n\log n\)) for a.e. irrational \(\alpha\). In the case of Kochergin flows where the singularity is of power type \((x^{-\gamma}\), \(\gamma\in(0,1))\), the author shows that, in the scale \(a_n (t)=n^t\), the slow entropy equals \(1+\gamma\) for a.e. \(\alpha\). Moreover, it is shown that for local rank-one flows, the slow entropy equals 0 in the \(n(\log n)^t\) scale and is at most \(1\) for the scale \(n^t\). As a consequence, a.e. Arnold and a.e. Kochergin flows are never of local rank one.
