The authors prove that each limiting semi-classical measure obtained from a sequence of eigenfunctions of the Laplacian on a compact hyperbolic surface is supported on the entire cosphere bundle. The new key ingredient for the proof is the fractal uncertainty principle, first formulated in [\textit{S. Dyatlov} and \textit{J. Zahl}, Geom. Funct. Anal. 26, No. 4, 1011--1094 (2016; Zbl 1384.58019)] and proved for porous sets in [\textit{J. Bourgain} and \textit{S. Dyatlov}, Ann. Math. (2) 187, No. 3, 825--867 (2018; Zbl 1392.37065)].
