The author studies the structure of a transitive Lie 2-algebroid. After some recalls about Leibniz 2-algebras, he gives the notion of a quadratic Lie 2-algebroid and defines its first Pontryagin class. A construction of a quadratic Lie 2-algebroid from a trivial principle 2-bundle with a connection is also constructed. In this case, it is proved that the first Pontryagin class is trivial.
