For \(f:(\mathbb{C}^n,0)\rightarrow (\mathbb{C},0)\) a germ of an analytic function with an isolated singularity at the origin, \(S:=\mathbb{C}\{ x_1,\ldots ,x_n\}\) and \(J_f:=(\partial f/\partial x_1,\ldots ,\partial f/\partial x_n)\), one defines the Milnor and Tjurina numbers as \(\mu :=\dim (S/J_f)\) and \(\tau :=\dim (S/(J_f,f))\). The author shows that \(\mu /\tau \leq n\), with equality if and only if Ker\((f)=(f^{n-1})\). As an application a lower bound of \(\tau\) in terms of \(n\) and the multiplicity of \(f\) at the origin is given.
