Given a real number \(p\) and a convex body \(K\subset \mathbb{R}^n\), with \(0\in \mathrm{int}(K)\), the authors introduce the concept of \(L^p\)-integral curvature of the set \(K\) (denoted, in the paper, by \(J_p(K,\cdot)\)) defining it as a particular Borel measure on the \(n\)-dimensional sphere \(S^{n-1}\). This concept extends the classical Aleksandrov's integral curvature, which coincides with \(J_p(K,\cdot)\) when \(p=0\). Then, the authors consider the following related \(L_p\)-Aleksandrov problem: finding necessary and sufficient conditions in order that a finite Borel measure \(\mu\) on \(S^{n-1}\) is the \(L^p\)-integral curvature of a convex body \(K\subset \mathbb{R}^n\) such that \(0\in \mathrm{int}(K)\). In the case \(p=0\), this problem was addressed and solved in [\textit{A. D. Aleksandrov}, C. R. (Dokl.) Acad. Sci. URSS, n. Ser. 35, 131--134 (1942; Zbl 0061.37604)]. In this paper, the authors solve the \(L_p\)-Aleksandrov problem in the case \(p>0\) by means of a proof which is different from that of Aleksandrov in the classical case \(p=0\). The authors also consider the latter case giving a partial answer to a question posed by Aleksandrov. More precisely, for \(p=0\) and for a finite even Borel measure \(\mu\) on \(S^{n-1}\), the authors establish, via a direct variational proof, a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a compact convex and origin-symmetric set \(K\subset \mathbb{R}^n\) such that \(\mu =J_0(K,\cdot)\). Finally, for \(p<0\), the authors are able to give a sufficient condition for the existence of solutions of the \(L_p\)-Aleksandrov problem in the case of finite even Borel measures. This condition is shown to be also necessary when the Borel measure has a density. The proof is carried out by showing that a solution of the \(L_p\)-Aleksandrov problem can be obtained as a solution of an entropy maximization problem for convex bodies of \(\mathbb{R}^n\).
