A celebrated theorem of \textit{S. Mori} [Ann. Math. (2) 110, 593--606 (1979; Zbl 0423.14006)] states that any smooth projective \(n\)-dimensional variety \(X\) defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic \(\geq 0\) whose tangent bundle is ample is isomorphic to the projective space \(\mathbb P^n\). This result inspired many mathematicians and led to several generalizations and conjectures. For example, \textit{M. Andreatta} and \textit{J. A. Wiśniewski} proved that the same conclusion holds if the tangent bundle of \(X\) contains an ample subbundle [Invent. Math. 146, No. 1, 209--217 (2001; Zbl 1081.14060)]. \textit{D. Litt} conjectured that the same conclusion is valid if there exists an ample vector bundle on \(X\) admitting a non-zero map to the tangent bundle [Manuscr. Math. 152, No. 3--4, 533--537 (2017; Zbl 1359.14048)] (this has been recently proved by \textit{J. Liu} [Nagoya Math. J. 233, 155--169 (2019; Zbl 1411.14054)]). Other generalizations have been obtained along the years always assuming that \(X\) is smooth. In the paper under review, working over \(\mathbb C\), the author generalizes Mori's result to the singular case as follows. Let \(X\) be a normal complex projective variety of dimension \(n\) whose tangent sheaf is ample: then \(X \cong \mathbb P^n\).
