The author studies ampleness and bigness for \(\mathbb{Q}\)-divisors and \(\mathbb{R}\)-divisors through the notion of the integral part. He starts with a collection of the well-known characterizations of ampleness for integral divisors. After that, he proves which of these properties can be extended to \(\mathbb{Q}\)-divisors and \(\mathbb{R}\)-divisors by the notion of integral part. These results are used to characterizing big non-integral divisors.
