    A \(\mathbb{Z}\)-graded ring is an unital ring \(L\) equipped with a direct sum decomposition into additive subgroups \(L = \bigoplus_{k \in \mathbb{Z}}L_{k}\) such that \(L_{k}.L_{l} \subseteq L_{k+l}\), for all \(k, l \in \mathbb{Z}\). We say that \(L\) is strongly graded if these inclusions are all equalities (see [\textit{E. C. Dade}, Math. Z. 174, 241--262 (1980; Zbl 0424.16001)]). Let \(A = \prod_{n \leq 0}L_{n} \oplus \bigoplus_{n > 0}L_{n}\), \(B=\bigoplus_{n < 0}L_{n} \oplus \prod_{n \geq 0}L_{n}\) and let \(\mathcal{C}\) be a bounded chain complex of finitely generated free \(L\)-modules. In the present paper the authors prove that the complex \(\mathcal{C}\) is \(L_{0}\)-finitely dominated if and only if both \(\mathcal{C} \bigotimes_{L} A\) and \(\mathcal{C} \bigotimes_{L} B\) have vanishing homology in all degrees (compare with [\textit{A. Ranicki}, Topology 34, No. 3, 619--632 (1995; Zbl 0859.57024)]).
