In this paper, the authors study the Markov inequality \[ {\|p'\|}_{w_{\lambda}}\leq c\,{\|p\|}_{w_{\lambda}} \] for polynomials \(p\in{\mathbb P}_n\) (the set of all polynomials of degree not exceeding \(n\)), where \[ {\|f\|}_{w_{\lambda}}:=\Bigl(\int_{-1}^{1}f^2(t)w_{\lambda}(t)\,{\text{d}}t\Bigr)^{1/2} \] is the \(L_2\)-norm on \([-1,1]\) with respect to the Gegenbauer weight function \(w_{\lambda}(t):=(1-t^2)^{\lambda-1/2}\), \(\lambda>-1/2\). Especially, upper and lower bounds for the best Markov constant \[ c_n(\lambda):=\sup_{p\in{\mathbb P}_n,~p\neq0}\frac{{\|p'\|}_{w_{\lambda}}}{{\|p\|}_{w_{\lambda}}} \] are given in terms of elementary functions of \(n\) and \(\lambda\).
