This article presents the short-wave diffraction by an elongated body of revolution. The classical method of the Leontovich-Fock parabolic equation cannot be applied in this case, mainly due to the scales of the boundary layer applied. Therefore, the authors introduce a new boundary layer in a neighbourhood of the light-shadow boundary, which is determined by other scales than the Fock boundary layer. The variables are not separated in the resulting main parabolic equation, so it is not possible to find an analytic solution. Hence, numerical methods are employed in order to solve the problem.
