The Hamilton-Jacobi equations are considered and a moving mesh discontinuous Galerkin method is analyzed. The arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian local discontinuous Galerkin method is described, analyzed and numerically tested. A moving mesh is used for the approximation of time dependent solution. An a priori error estimate is shown with respect to the \(L^\infty(0,T,L^2(\Omega))\) norm. For a one-dimensional problem the optimal order of convergence is shown, whereas for the two-dimensional problem the sub-optimal is proven for the semi-discrete method with the local Lax-Friedrichs flux and piecewise polynomials of degree \(k\) are used on the reference element. Furthermore for the discretization on the moving meshes the fully discrete method is shown to satisfy the geometric conservation law. The obtained results and also the applicability of the numerical method is demonstrated on several one- and two-dimensional numerical examples with either convex or also noneconvex Hamiltonian.
