The authors study possible configurations of singular points on an algebraic curve in a special case: sextic plane curve \(C_{6}\) which has 6 singular points of multiplicity 2. If singular points are only ordinary cusps (locally \(y^{2}+x^{3}=0\)) or tacnodes (locally \(y^{2}+x^{4}=0\)) and they don't lie on a conic then there is always \(C_{6}\) with \(6-i\) cusps and \(i\) tacnodes. If however they lie on a conic then the authors prove (this is the main result of the paper) that all the singularities are ordinary cusps and \( C_{6}\) is irreducible. It has some consequences in the surface theory.
