Let us begin with some definitions. A norm \(N\) on \(\mathbb R^2\) is called absolute if \(N(a,b)=N(| a|, | b|)\) holds for every \((a,b)\in\mathbb R^2\), and it is called normalized if \(N(1,0)=N(0,1)=1\). Given two Banach spaces \(X\) and \(Y\) and an absolute norm \(N\) on \(\mathbb R^2\), the Banach space \((X\times Y, \|\cdot\|_N)\) is denoted by \(X\oplus_N Y\), where \[ \| (x,y)\|_N=N(\| x\|,\| y\|). \] The main aim of the paper under review is to determine stability results of geometrical properties of Banach spaces such as average roughness of the norm, octahedrality of the norm, the almost Daugavet property and (diametral) strong diameter two properties. For instance, it is characterised when \(X\oplus_N Y\) has an octahedral norm in terms of a geometric property on the norm \(N\) in case that \(X\) and \(Y\) have an octahedral norm. A dual statement is obtained, getting a characterisation of when \(X\oplus_N Y\) has the strong diameter two property in terms of a geometrical property of \(N\) whenever both \(X\) and \(Y\) enjoy the strong diameter two property. Finally, the authors prove that if a space \(X\oplus_N Y\) has the diametral strong diameter two property, then \(N\) is either the \(1\)-norm or the \(\infty\)-norm in \(\mathbb R^2\).
