Classical Invariant Theory (CIT) studies the invariant ring of vectors and covectors for the classical groups \(G\) over the complex field, for example, the general linear group \(\mathrm{GL}(V)\) and the orthogonal group \(O(V)\); see \textit{H. Weyl}'s famous book [The classical groups, their invariants and representations. 2nd ed. Princeton, NJ: Princeton University Press (1946; Zbl 1024.20502)]. The authors of this paper used the methods from algebraic geometry to derive the first fundamental theorem (FFT) for the orthosymplectic supergroup and the periplectic supergroup, extending the ideas due to Atiyah, Bott, and Patodi in the 1970s. The same method is also used to explain the fact that Sergeev's super Pfaffian, an invariant for the special orthosymplectic supergroup, is polynomial.
