Let \(X\) be a compact Euclidean Neighbourhood Retract, \(p : \widetilde X \to X\) a finite \(n\)-fold cover, and \(f : \widetilde X \to X\) a continuous map. The homotopy fixed-point set of a ``fraction'' \(f/p\) is defined as the subspace of \(\widetilde{X} \times C([0,1];X)\): \[ h-\text{Fix}(f/p) = \{(\widetilde{x},\alpha) \mid \alpha (0) = p(\widetilde{x}),\, \alpha (1) = f(\widetilde{x}) \}. \] Starting with the notion of the homotopy Lefschetz index of \(f/p\) defined by the author in [J. Fixed Point Theory Appl. 17, No. 1, 153--186 (2015; Zbl 1329.55001)] as an element of the stable homotopy group of \(h-\text{Fix}(f/p)\), the author presents the construction of the Nielsen-Reidemeister index of \(f/p\), proves its commutativity and shows that it agrees with the Nielsen index of an \(n\)-valued multimap \(\widetilde{F} : \widetilde{X} \multimap \widetilde{X}\), \[ \widetilde{F}(\widetilde{x}) = \{\widetilde{y} \in \widetilde{X} \mid p(\widetilde{y}) = f(\widetilde{x})\}. \] Computations of the fixed-point indices in some examples involving projective spaces are presented.
