The authors construct and study a short exact sequence of Poisson \(\mathcal{VB}\)-groupoids which is canonically related to the Atiyah sequence of a \(G\)-principal bundle \(P\). They discuss the particular case when \(P\) is a group and \(G\) is a normal subgroup of \(P\). They also study the semidirect product case, which is important for applications in Hamiltonian mechanics.
