Let \(G\) be a real reductive group and \(H\) a closed subgroup such that the quotient \(Z=G/H\) is a \textit{spherical space}, which means that there exists a minimal parabolic \(P\) with open orbit in \(Z\). If another technical condition is satisfied, \(Z\) is called a \textit{wavefront space}. Note that all symmetric spaces are wavefront spaces. In the paper under review it is shown that for a wavefron space \(Z\) and for given \(1\leq p'<p<\infty\) there exist \(C,k>0\) such that \[ \parallel f\parallel_p\leq C\parallel f\parallel_{\infty,k} \] holds for all \(f\in L^{p'}(Z)\) which are eigenfunctions of the algebra of all bi-invariant differential operators on \(G\). Here \(\parallel.\parallel_{\infty,k}\) is the \(k\)th Sobolev norm derived from the \(L^\infty\) norm. Applications of this inequality to error term estimates for geometric counting problems on wavefront spaces are given.
