The study of \(C^*\)-algebras associated to partial actions of groups on topological spaces is an important current line of research, see, e.g., [\textit{R. Exel}, Partial dynamical systems, Fell bundles and applications. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS) (2017; Zbl 1405.46003)]. This study includes the case of global actions, and it is contained in the study of \(C^*\)-algebras of étale groupoids. In the paper under review, the authors contribute to the study of dynamical systems associated to separated graphs (introduced by \textit{P. Ara} and \textit{R. Exel} [Adv. Math. 252, 748--804 (2014; Zbl 1319.46046)]) by using an equivalent approach associated to partial actions. To this end, they introduce a generalization of the notion of subshift: convex subshifts. This approach also unifies the study of one-sided and two-sided subshifts and their \(C^*\)-algebras (Cuntz-Krieger algebras, graph \(C^*\)-algebras, etc.). They key result of the present paper is Theorem 3.25, where the authors prove that any convex subshift of finite type \(\theta\) corresponds (up to Kakutani equivalence) to the convex subshift \(\theta^{(E,C)}\) associated to a suitable finite bipartite separated graph \((E,C)\); this means that the algebra associated to \(\theta\) is (Morita) equivalent to the tame algebra of the separated graph. In particular, that allows to compute the \(K_0\)-groups of the (tame) algebras associated to \(\theta\) (Theorem 2.9) using the equivalent approach. More generally, it allows to reduce the study of convex subshifts of finite type to that of dynamical systems of finite bipartite separated graphs. The rest of the paper is mainly devoted to study the ideal structure of the tame algebra of a finite bipartite separated graph in terms of the dynamical approach provided by the associated convex subshift of finite type. The main results are: {\parindent=0.7cm\begin{itemize}\item[1.] To give a description of the induced ideals of the tame algebra of \((E,C)\) in terms of the hereditary \(C\)-saturated subsets of the associated Bratteli diagram \((F_\infty, D^\infty)\) (Theorems 4.5 \& 4.7). \item[2.] To state the relation between the hereditary \(C\)-saturated subsets of the separated graph \((E,C)\) and those of the associated Bratteli diagram \((F_\infty, D^\infty)\) (Lemma 5.3), as well as the description of their quotients (Theorem 5.5). \item[3.] To compute the \(K_0\)-groups for the quotients of the tame algebra of \((E,C)\) modulo the ideals generated by the hereditary \(C\)-saturated subsets of the associated Bratteli diagram \((F_\infty, D^\infty)\) (Theorem 6.4). \item[4.] To give a complete description of the ideals of finite type for the tame algebras of \((E,C)\) (Theorems 7.17 \& 7.22). \end{itemize}} Finally, the authors characterize the \(\mathcal{V}\)-simplicity (Theorem 8.1) and the primeness (Theorem 9.10) for the tame algebras of \((E,C)\).
