This paper concerns the Euler system with damping. The main issue is to show the convergence to the equilibrium of the damped Euler system. In order to do it, the authors develop tools to construct Lyapunov functionals on the space of probability measures under the influence of external and interaction potential forces with respect to the 2-Wasserstein distance. Furthermore, they investigate the overdamped limit to a nonlocal equation based on the modelling of granular media with respect to the 2-Wasserstein distance, and provide rigorous proofs for particular examples in one spatial dimension.
